You learn to support people experiencing dependency on alcohol or other drugs — how dependency develops, how to assess what someone needs, how to deliver interventions, and how to work safely and ethically. Treatment planning is covered in the Certificate IV and Diploma.
Which course should I start with?

If you already work in community services and want to move into assessment and treatment planning, the CHC53215 Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs is the better fit. The levels build on each other: six of the eight short course units sit in the Certificate IV core, and the Certificate IV shares seven core units with the Diploma.
