A passionate disability services practitioner for over 20 years

James Joseph Asciak

James Joseph has been a passionate disability services practitioner for the past 20 years, supporting people and their families in a range of community-based practices.

Much of his professional career has been spent developing, launching, and managing new services in Victoria, increasing community participation and social opportunities for people. These have included capacity-building programs for young people to live more independently, allied health practices, sibling support groups, accommodation services, as well as a supported employment cupcake café in Central Geelong.

Understanding people and their experiences is an important part of working in the care industry, and James enjoys forming connections with people to find common community bonds to deliver meaningful supports.

As the Disability and Aged Care sectors undergo rapid change to better meet the needs of people and their families, James is passionate to help create a workforce ready and prepared for these exciting times. He is a firm believer that learning should be fun, engaging, and accessible to all people, and is motivated to create learning environments for the next generation of care practitioners.
